South Fork Breitenbush River and Emerald Forest Trails
June 22, 2006
A fine hike on
a fine day. This is an interesting hike that takes one
through some areas of beautiful old trees, but one must be prepared to
climb over some blowdown here and there. Fortunately most of it has
been improved.
Linda Gray
led for the Lake Oswego Hikers. We went southeast on the trail
along the South Fork of the Breitenbush River to the bridge over Roaring
Creek. After lunch there, we returned to the junction of the trail
connecting with the "Emerald Forest" trail. This is close to 44°46'N
and 121°57'W.
Deciding that Devil's Peak was out of reach for today,
we continued west to Devil's Creek, then north to Breitenbush Hot Springs
and eventually to our starting place at the old (demolished) ranger station.
Thanks, Linda, for a great hike!
