Burnt Lake and East ZigZag Mountain

July 11, 2002

The Lake Oswego Hikers went to East ZigZag Mountain today.  We began at the Burnt Lake Trailhead #772 (approximately N45.3722° and W121.8228°) at an elevation of 2660 ft.  Burnt Lake is at approximately 4160 ft. above sea level.  East ZigZag Mountain, at one time the site of a fire lookout, peaks at about 4971 ft., making our total elevation gain about 2311 ft.

We had warm, sunny  weather.  Some would even call it hot.  But I think it was hotter back in Portland!  The flowers were beautiful and the vistas extensive.
It was a good substitute for the Serene Lake outing, which was not available because of deep snow and many fallen trees.  Thank you, Val Gibson.
